Yesterday the children planned how they could help the Gingerbread Man. Today they made their models to help him cross the river. We had bridges, a climbing frame and some aeroplanes.

Yesterday, Grandma Sherene came to bake Gingerbread men with us. We followed instructions and took turns. They were delicious! Thank you so much for coming to help us Grandma Sherene! Gladly, they didn’t run away like they did in our story.
We moved like the characters from The Gingerbread Man, we played Gingerbread Man tig, then we played lots of different games. Showcasing our striking and ball skills we’ve developed this half term! #LovePlover
Thank you Mrs Coates for spending the morning with our F2 children to expertly show and make gingerbread men with all of our children. #LovePlover
Well done to the children who were able to find all the gingerbread man bean bags. Liarna found the gingerbread man both times, winning 2 crew coins. #LovePlover
Thank you to the lovely ladies who came to read stories to our children yesterday. We can’t wait to share our stories with you as part of our final product. #LovePlover
After reading the story, the children made predictions of what might happen if the Gingerbread man fell in the river: float, break, snap, melt, turn to liquid, crumble, go soft, sink, make the water brown.
So we did a science experiment to see. We put the Gingerbread man into water and we were correct… he dissolved and went into a soggy mush. After, we thought of different ideas to help the Gingerbread Man so he didn’t fall in the water. #LovePlover
We are not sure if we loved it more or if our visitors loved it more today? Residents from Oaklands Care Home came to share some stories. Some of them loved reading to the children and some of them loved hearing stories with the children. Ernest used to be a teacher and even taught Mrs Price when she went to school! We showed off our counting too to see if it helped him feel like he was back in the classroom at Hall Cross. We got lots of smiles from him, despite him missing all the skittles when he played bowling with us 🙂
Lizzy loved reading to the children and made lots of friends- Mrs Reeve said she was after her job! There was lots of giggles and joy shared.
We hope to see our new friends at our Celebration of Learning later in the term.
Today we have been working hard on our oral blending . We had to say the sound in each hoop, before blending it together to say the whole word.

For case study 1 we have been looking at the key text, The 3 Billy Goats Gruff. After reading the story, we collaboratively created a story map, before acting it out ourselves in small groups.
The children showed great courage in acting out the roles infront of their peers.
