Year 3 PE

Year 3 PE will be on Tuesday during the remainder of the Autumn Term.

However, sometimes timetables will change for special events and activities. Please can we therefore advise that PE kits are brought to school on a Monday morning and brought home on a Friday evening.

Please remember PE will be outside wherever possible so please send your child with a warm tracksuit and trainers.

Please ask your child’s teacher if you have any additional questions.

Fabulous Film Night

Year 3/4 thoroughly enjoyed this evening’s film night.

We watched ‘Onward’, whilst we ate pizza, sweets and a bun and drank tasty chocolate milkshake.

Sadly there are no photos as the room was so dark and the staff were so busy running round like Deliveroo drivers, ensuring everyone got fed!

Thanks to the support of film night, we have  raised over £50 for our Phase so thank you very much.

Roman Day

WOW!! What a superb Roman Day we had today!

We started the day exploring Roman armour, then we held shields and had a practice of a real Roman Solider drill! It was great fun to do ‘the tortoise’! We then had a go at playing ‘knucklebones’ which was really popular with all the children! After a break, we tried our hand at Roman writing in beeswax with a stylus. We ended our day with mosaics making and handling real life Roman artefacts!

Claire was fantastic and a fountain of knowledge! All our children loved the day! Thank you parents/carers for your payments to make today happen and to Miss Lotysz for her time booking the day!

Stay tuned for photos tomorrow!

PLEASE NOTE

Sadly, Doncaster Rovers coaching on a Friday afternoon has had to be postponed. Look out for an announcement about when this will happen in the new year!

Tuesday in 3T

Today has been a great day in 3T.

In Maths, we have been learning to read bar charts and their scales. In English, we have been learning about non chronological reports. In Expedition, we have been learning about the parts of a plant.

Behaviour has been super today and the children have worked hard in their groups!

Year 3 PE

Please note that Y3 will be working with Doncaster Rovers on a Friday afternoon as part of their PE curriculum.

They will need warm tracksuit bottoms and a warm jumper or hoody. They will also need trainers (not boots). No other items/equipment are required for the session. This session will be outdoors unless the weather is too bad to let the session go ahead outdoors.

Please ask if you have any questions.

Online Learning

Please note that if you have to self-isolate at home for any reason, you can access your learning online through Google classroom. We shall put copies of the learning slides and tasks online, so that you can still take part in what we are doing in school. I know this might be a bit tricky at times without your teacher to help you but there are still plenty of other things you can do:

1) www.myon.co.uk – an online library of digital books. Select books at the right reading level and quiz on them on Accelerated Reader. Logon using the same username and password as Accelerated Reader.

2) Accelerated Reader –  quiz on the books you have read. Follow the link from the bar at the top of the school website after you have logged in.

3) Times tables Rockstars – practice your times tables

4) www.corbettmaths.co.uk – primary 5 a day! Find today’s date and have a go at the maths questions on the bronze level.

5) BBC bite size – find the super movers videos and practise times tables or research about the romans.

6) www.primaryhomeworkhelp.co.uk to research the Romans in Britain. – click the romans link

Any questions, please contact school and we will get back to you.

Roman Roads!

What a fun afternoon exploring how the Romans made their roads. Don’t worry, the children weren’t outside digging but using custard, biscuit, smarties and malteasers instead! We really enjoyed ourselves today and I am so impressed with how organised and tidy the children were during what could have been a very messy activity! I was also so grateful to the children who took time to thank me for getting the ingredients ready for the lesson – a superb example of ‘be kind’.

Math-a-magicians!

Today I have been really impressed to see 3T’s brilliant Maths work. The children have been working on addition with regrouping. This would look something like this.

25 + 37 =

20 + 30 = 50

5 + 7 = 12

(We would then partition 12 into 10 and 2)

50+ 10 = 60

60 + 2 = 62

I was absolutely bursting with pride to see the presentation of work in books, the collaborative efforts of the children and the peer coaching so that every child could achieve gold standard work today! Well done 3T – keep up the great work. I bet there were lots of 4’s at home time in your ‘work hard’ strand of the HOWLs today!

Well done Luke

Well done Luke, our Pride of Plover winner in 3T.

Luke has received his award for making an improved effort to talk in class and join in with his peers. He is chatting more to the adults in school and has also talked to visitors. Luke is enjoying helping everyone sign in Crew time too. Keep up the super work Luke, we are so proud of you!

Hook Week

We had a wonderful hook week here in 3T.

The children took part in a range of activities which were so much fun! These included;

Discovery dig on the school field

Making Roman numerals

Assembling a Roman soldier

Making and decorating shields

Reading ‘The Captive Celt’

Archaeological dig

Dressing up as Romans or Celts

Watching Horrible Histories The Movie

Roman food tasting

It has been wonderful to hear so many of our parents and carers telling us how engaged the children are, wanting to find things out at home and telling them what happened during the day. Keep it up 3T! I hope you enjoy our hook week pictures!
