PE Kit reminder for Year 1

Monday and/or Tuesdays are PE days for year one:

PE Kit = t-shirt, jumper, waterproof, jogging bottoms, separate pair of trainers.

PE kit request | St Stephen's C of E Primary School

These will be outside where possible (rain or shine)… please can I remind you that ALL children must bring their PE kits to experience the full benefit of PE lessons, as well as saving their uniform/shoes getting wet and muddy!

Also, a polite reminder that ALL EARRINGS are not to be worn on these days for PE!

Thank you Year 1 Crew!

Be Kind

In our transition unit today, we explored how we are all people and that we should not be judged by the way we look or dress. There was a lot of very mature conversation about what is right and what is not. We talked about the power that our class will have when they get older to be able to change our world. We recreated a page from the book we have been studying, which carried a very powerful message. We ended the lesson by summing up our learning and we chose 2 simple words – Be Kind!

Plover Praise

Szymon has earned today’s Praise Postcard for his great show of kindness. He gave a donation to Comic Relief today from his own money and told me about the impact our lesson had had on him yesterday. He said how he had been thinking all night about how it is not right for other people to not have access to the same things that we sometimes take for granted – especially food and water. What great kindness!

Pride of Plover

This week’s Pride of Plover is Julita. She is slowly finding her voice and the confidence to talk about her learning. She is determined to improve and is really making huge strides forward. Well done Julita!

We are poets.

We have explored ambitious vocabulary linked to our expedition and then carefully crafted them into rhyming couplets. We saw amazing results!

How to be busy outside.

As part of our learning about the world around us, we took our learning outdoors. We discussed different ways that we can be busy when we are outside and then we made choices about what we would like to do. Some chose to be quiet and reflective, some chose to read, some chose to colour or cut shapes, some chose to play with toys and others chose to run and be active. We decided that it was ok to choose any of these things! We also discussed how important it is to leave the outdoors exactly as we found it!

Congratulations to Olivia for winning the yellow t-shirt this week!
Olivia is an always child, always tries her best, always works hard, always helpful to her friends and teachers… but this week has shown great knowledge in our transition about the planet we live on!

Safe Touch Session

1M had a special visitor this morning teaching us about the importance of our body parts and keeping them safe.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lL07JOGU5o

I was so proud of all our children, at how well they listened to the school nurse, sensibly they acted and asked questions… recognising what body parts are okay to touch BUT more importantly the message of what body parts should not be seen or touched and that we should say… NO!
