We tasted lots of exotic fruit from Handa’s Surprise. Then we described what the fruits were like. After the children did some observational paintings of the fruit. #LovePlover

A tasty day in F2 today! We felt, tasted and drew a variety of fruit linked to our Expedition text, ‘Handa’s Surprise’.
Today we have been talking about the changes we can see in our plants, since planting the seeds. We spoke about the roots, shoots, leaves and stalk and how you need to be gentle with them as hey are living things. We learnt that plants need sun, water and to eat nutrients from the soil, to grow. We did some active learning to help us remember which are the roots and which are the shoots.

Today, we played ‘Handa’s Surprise’, after we had read the story. We used blocks to build the path and the trees and then moved the characters around our great big story mat. The cheeky animals kept stealing the fruit and running off with it! We talked and collaborated so we all knew how to play and tell the story. It was fun and Mrs Bubb was so impressed with the story language we were using in our play. Tomorrow, we might steal the fruit so we can have a taste!
This morning, we had a special visitor in EYFS… not only was he a bus driver with a double decker bus, but he was one of our parents! Thank you to Jack and First Travel f. or visiting us today. The children learnt about what a bus driver does, how the bus moves safely, what journeys the buses go on. Then we got to explore the bus and sing songs! This was some children’s first time on a bus and they were so excited! #LovePlover
This morning we have been lucky enough to have a visit from Otis’ dad, Jack, who is a bus driver. Jack brought his bus for us to have a look around and told us all about his job. It was so exciting!

We listened to some African culture and watched people playing the djembes. We explored different beats and rhythms on our knees then on the djembes. We had so much fun – check out our beats! #LovePlover
