Lots of activity

Thank you for the observations today. It has been lovely to chat to many of you on the phone and hear the eagerness of the children to chat.

I enjoyed the PE lesson this morning and I know that some of our F1 and F2 children did too, especially Bobby and George. It was mentioned in quite a few observations.

Some children have been on Phonics Play. Can you beat your score next time?

L’s mum shared a website with worksheets on that are printable – thank you for the information.

Monday’s learning

Good morning everyone. We hope you had a lovely weekend. This is the home learning for today. Please send us observations on Evidence me.

Thank you to Rahand’s family for sending a photo of him and the card he made for Mother’s day.

Play the game on New Phonics Play

Phase 2 for children working on pink reading books
Phase 3 for children working on red reading books
Phase 4 for children working on yellow reading books, move onto phase 5 if they can complete phase 4.

This week’s focus for maths is learning about money.
Sing the Wheels on the bus.
Make some bus tickets and pretend to get on the bus. Write 5p, 10p, 7p etc on the tickets and use pennies to match. See the example.
Look at different coins and name them.
“This coin is ___. It is the same amount as ____ pennies.”

If your child knows the coins, play guess the coin describing what it looks like – size, colour, and how many pennies it is worth.

Children to share the Easter story – either in a book or online. Talk about the different people. They could make the story using drawing, lego etc

BBC teach have created a video of the Easter story.

Evidence Me

Thank you to all our parents and carers for support over the last week.

For those parents who were unable to collect packs/waterproofs etc, Mrs Shuka will be delivering them on Monday.

Mrs Price and Mrs Shuka will be phoning F1 and F2 parents of children who are not in school, at least once a week, to check everyone is ok and to answer any questions. It would be great to chat the children too.

Mrs Ibbertson will Blog for F1 every morning by 9.00 and Mrs Price will Blog for F2. There will be activities to complete. We would like you to send the evidence of this learning on Evidence Me. We will provide information on the Blog but the activities will also be sent to you on Evidence Me, where you can create your own observations (photos, videos, notes) in response, or add parent notes to the original. We are looking forward to seeing their learning.

Other ideas for home learning

These are other ideas for home learning.

Theme/Topic Learning English Maths Life Skills
Watch the Gruffalo on Youtube or other download Think of a new character for the Gruffalo and draw and label it. Do Spot the difference and dot to dot on the Gruffalo website – if you can’t print then make your own Use scissors to cut out shapes to make a Gruffalo
Learn the Gruffalo song in Makaton – see previous Blog post Practice retelling the story and draw your favourite part explaining why Make/draw the characters from the story and talk about the different sizes Practice making a sandwich, spreading the butter
Make an Easter Card Write your own Gruffalo crumble recipe Use everyday objects from home to build a Gruffalo and talk about the shapes used and their properties – cube, cuboid, sphere, cone, cylinder, edge, vertices, face Talk about what food is healthy and what we should eat as a treat. Cut pictures from a leaflet and make a representation of your ideas.
Log onto The Gruffalo website and play the games Make your own Gruffalo book – be the author and the illustrator Make up problems for the Gruffalo

Eg If he ate double 3 mice, how many would he have?

Practice fastening shoe laces, buckles, buttons.
Research the animals in the Gruffalo and write facts for them including where we would find them in the world Find the rhyming words in the story Make a small Gruffalo or use a teddy. Play hunt the Gruffalo and use positional language. Make a family tree of your family
Make a den in your house and pretend to be the Gruffalo. How did you make the den? What did you use? Could you improve it? Design a wanted poster for the Big Bad Mouse Compare food at home for comparing heavier and lighter The Gruffalo’s child was brave when he went to meet the Big Bad Mouse. How else did he feel? How would you feel? Draw your feelings.
The animals in the story are all different. How are you the same/different to your friends? Draw a map and label characters Tally chart

Count creatures including birds in the garden.

Help to wash and dry pots.
Make a finger puppet and use to retell the story. You could use a toilet roll. Make a sentence using tricky words. Make a number track game and use to count on and back. Talk about being safe when out and about. What dangers would there be and how would you keep safe.

Evidence Me

We will be using the Blog and Evidence Me to support your child’s learning over the next few weeks.

If school does close or you are self isolating please send us updates of your child’s learning using Evidence Me.

All parents/carers in Foundation Stage should have received an email from [email protected] to transfer from 2 build a profile to Evidence Me. If you haven’t done so already, please activate.

Teachers in F1 and F2 will Blog daily activities for your child to complete should school need to close. Once completed, observations can then be shared with us via Evidence Me.

We have sent home packs to help your child in their learning and we will also send a new home learning menu.

Thank you for your support

Mrs Price
