Forest School

Our Forest School children had a great session outside on Thursday. We are already beginning to remember our rules for keeping safe. Children worked together to find ways to move logs twice as big and heavy as themselves. They had great fun getting muddy, digging holes to plant trees and were really excited to find and re-home wriggly worms. Make sure you have your wellies next week as we want to jump in muddy puddles!

Lego club

Lots of industrious children in Lego club today. The children were able to make models fastening their chosen equipment together. Some children also used other equipment to build with. The behaviour was fantastic and we had some lovely conversations. Looking forward to next week.

Little Red Riding Hood

We have started learning about Little Red Riding Hood.

Some of us have been baking scones to take to Granny’s house.

Some of us have been playing in small world re-telling the story.

A letter for the Mayor

F2 were so excited to meet the Mayoress of Doncaster. We enjoyed telling her about our new expedition and invited her to unveil our information board in  Sandal Beat woods in April. We hope she can make it!

Book and a biscuit

Book and a biscuit

Starting Monday 20th January

Book and a biscuit will be on a Monday and Friday at 2.30. Come and read with your child in school. This reading will count towards your child’s reading challenge.

Come to your child’s class door at 2.30.

We will be reading/sharing stories with those children whose adults can’t attend.

For fire safety we will ask all adults to sign in.

A flyer will come home tomorrow.

The hedgehog

We were very excited today when the hedgehog arrived from the museum service.

A letter is coming home today about our Austerfield visit. Please send the form back to school as soon as possible and pay on ParentPay.

Thank you

Creative day

We have spent the day making animals for our woodland environment. We have painted squirrels, made badgers, foxes, hedgehogs and have made owls by cutting and sticking paper. We have added them to our environment.

The children chose Khongkwan for our Plover Postcard today as she persevered in making her owl. Well done Khongkwan.

Walk to the woods

F2 visited Sandal Beat Woods today. We had lots of fun using our senses to explore the woodlands and discovering what lives there. We found out where animals build their homes and were lucky enough to spot a few squirrels. We climbed over, under and even inside the trees. Thank you to all of the grown-ups who came with us. We can’t wait for our next Woodland visit on 25th February, when we will exploring the woods around Austerfield Study Centre. Look out for a letter soon!
