Make your own Gruffalo book – be the author and the illustrator
Make up problems for the Gruffalo
Eg If he ate double 3 mice, how many would he have?
Practice fastening shoe laces, buckles, buttons.
Research the animals in the Gruffalo and write facts for them including where we would find them in the world
Find the rhyming words in the story
Make a small Gruffalo or use a teddy. Play hunt the Gruffalo and use positional language.
Make a family tree of your family
Make a den in your house and pretend to be the Gruffalo. How did you make the den? What did you use? Could you improve it?
Design a wanted poster for the Big Bad Mouse
Compare food at home for comparing heavier and lighter
The Gruffalo’s child was brave when he went to meet the Big Bad Mouse. How else did he feel? How would you feel? Draw your feelings.
The animals in the story are all different. How are you the same/different to your friends?
Draw a map and label characters
Tally chart
Count creatures including birds in the garden.
Help to wash and dry pots.
Make a finger puppet and use to retell the story. You could use a toilet roll.
Make a sentence using tricky words.
Make a number track game and use to count on and back.
Talk about being safe when out and about. What dangers would there be and how would you keep safe.

We read the story of ‘The Day the Crayons Quit.’ We looked at colours and sang the song, “I can sing a rainbow.” We melted our wax crayons onto the rainbow that we had painted.
