We have spent the last couple of days learning about the Jolly Christmas Postman and the letters that he delivered. We have acted out the story using puppets and some of us have enjoyed drawing the characters from the story. A shout out goes to Bobby and Samuel for creating their own pictures of Humpty Dumpty from the story.

For those children who are off school at the moment, please remember to check Evidence me for up-to-date learning.

Christmas cards

The time is nearly upon us to start thinking about Christmas in school. Many children and adults ask us about cards. Due to the current situation, we have thought about how best to go about the giving and receiving of cards in school this year.

This year, please only send cards to children in your year group bubble (F1Ā  and F2).

From December 1st, children can bring cards and place them in the year group post box. This will be in their classroom. Cards can be dropped in any day up until 11th December.

On 11th December, the post box will close and no further cards can come into school. This will mean all cards will enter a period of quarantine. On Tuesday 15th December, all cards will be given out.

Please ask a member of the EYFS team if you have any further questions.

Thank you for your support in helping to enjoy the joy of giving and receiving cards, whilst keeping everyone safe.

What’s in the post?

F2S have enjoyed learning about the postal workers this week and how they help our community. They’ve had fun writing letters and sorting parcels in our own post office. There have even been a few parcels for some favourite fairy tale characters. I wonder what was inside the Big Bad Wolf’s parcel?

Birthday Parties

F2 had a great time on Friday, celebrating their birthdays together. We had fun playing games and learning that it’s not just the winning but the taking part that counts. The cake and balloons were a big hit too. Happy Birthday to all of our September, October and November birthday girls and boys!

EYFS news

We have had a busy week in Foundation Stage learning about the Post Office and how postal workers help us. We have dressed up and delivered letters and parcels.

Here are some paintings of postal workers.

Both F2 classes had attendance over 97%. Well done.

The children are divided into 3 crew colours – red, yellow and blue. They earn crew coins for good behaviour, learning and being kind. The winning crew this week was red. Congratulations to the red crew.

In our crew sessions we have been learning about sharing and that sharing means we are caring for our friends and being kind.

Next week we are learning about the Jolly Christmas Postman, creating maps and re-telling the story. We are also creating our final product.

The postal journey

We have been thinking about postal workers and the journies they make to bring us our post.

We have dressed up as postal workers and described what they look like and what they do.

We have practiced the journey in our play.

The children have been sending letters to each other. Thank you for my letters too!

We can add in different ways

F2 have been learning how to add. They can use manipulatives to help them. They counted spots on ladybirds and wrote equations to match. They have used part whole models to make numbers in different ways.

They have been practising addition in their play.

Mason, Emma and Bobby have been playing a ladybird game. They took turns and worked out who was the winner by adding the spots together. Bobby noticed that he had some double numbers too.

Well done F2 Mathematicians!
