For handwriting this week we are moving on to write ladder letters. These all start at the top and go down. Remember to put a dot on the top for i and j.
Watch BBC Bitesize to see how to write them. Practice the formation each day. Don’t forget the caterpillar letters from last week.
Here are some ideas of other learning that you might want to have a go at this week.
Set up a Goldilocks role play
Have a tea party – make some sandwiches
Find objects in your house that are different sizes and put in order eg three bowls
Make some play dough and create some bears
Make a bear house using a cereal box
Make a den and read a bear story in it
Play in porridge – what does it look like, smell like, feel like?
Play hide and seek
Draw and label the characters from the story Goldilocks and the three bears.
Have a walk to the woods – pretend to be the bears. Can you hide from Goldilocks?
Send photos of the things that you try. We also like to see your ideas and creations on the hangouts.
Week 4
Here’s an overview for this week’s phonics sessions. This week we will be learning letter names and singing the alphabet. There are lots of songs, some are included here as examples. Feel free to sing your own but remember to use an English version with Z being said as zed not zee.
This week we will be focusing on the trigraphs ear and air, reading and writing phase 2 and 3 tricky words and revising phase 2 and 3 graphemes and phomnemes. You may use the flashcards you have made or use these links each day:
phase 2 graphemes
A very big well done to everyone that entered the E-Safety poster competition. I was so impressed with your posters and how much you have understood about staying safe online.
Friday’s maths
Exploring counting in groups of five
In this lesson, we will explore counting in groups of five using a range of manipulatives.
You will need a number line to 20 to help you practice counting in 5s.
Watch the video.
There is a sheet to complete at the end. Can you make groups of 5?
Today we are going to be matching sentences to pictures. We will be practicing reading words and sentences.
Which words can you read in the sentences? If you are gold standard find the phase 2 tricky words and read the words with 3 letters that you can sound out. Try and read the whole sentence. If you are green standard identify the phase 3 graphemes and try and read the sentences on your own.
When you have read the sentences match them to the pictures.
