Good morning Foundation 1!

Happy Monday children! We hope that you are all keeping safe and well. Please can you show your adults how you can sing some of the number songs which we practise at school? If your adult writes the numerals 1,2,3,4 and 5 on pieces of paper you can read them and match the correct number of objects to the numeral!

If your adult writes out the numbers 1,2,3,4 and 5 for you, can you copy over them or write them underneath? You can use whatever you have, chalk, pens or paint. Here are numbers written in salt!

Evidence Me

Thank you to all our parents and carers for support over the last week.

For those parents who were unable to collect packs/waterproofs etc, Mrs Shuka will be delivering them on Monday.

Mrs Price and Mrs Shuka will be phoning F1 and F2 parents of children who are not in school, at least once a week, to check everyone is ok and to answer any questions. It would be great to chat the children too.

Mrs Ibbertson will Blog for F1 every morning by 9.00 and Mrs Price will Blog for F2. There will be activities to complete. We would like you to send the evidence of this learning on Evidence Me. We will provide information on the Blog but the activities will also be sent to you on Evidence Me, where you can create your own observations (photos, videos, notes) in response, or add parent notes to the original. We are looking forward to seeing their learning.

Thursday’s fun!

Please could your child draw circles and colour them in to form their Gingerbread man. As an extra challenge you could cut him out and make a puppet. Please send this to us on Evidence Me. If you need help with this just ask. Thank you.

Mrs Ibbertson and Mrs Renwick

Some fun ideas!

Numbering toys with the numerals 1-5 on stickers or sellotaping paper onto them is useful.

Could you try different types of threading ? Can you count as you thread?

Using post it notes, cut them into different shapes, to sort according to shape or colour. These could be used to create pictures too!

Have fun learning!

Here is some home learning for our Foundation 1 pupils. Please send any photos via ‘Evidence Me’ to show us how much fun you are having at home.

Theme/Topic Learnin English Maths Physical
Find a teddy bear at home and describe it to your adult. Can your adult write down any words you have used to share with us for our word bank? Share the story: Goldilocks and The three bears.

Can you order the length of two or three objects?

Can you hold your pencil properly between two fingers and a thumb?

Make a picture of their favourite part of a book.

Make a model of something from the story of Goldilocks and the three bears. This could be a model, a sock puppet, a mask. Talk about who are the characters in Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Talk about words that describe size; small, big, bigger, larger etc. Can you use scissors to cut out a bear?
Find out about the different types of environments where real pigs live. Have you been to a farm? Bring in a photo to share. Can you describe the story setting in the story of the Three Little Pigs? Can you talk about how the bricks would be heavy and the straw would be lighter? What other objects can you compare the weight of? Can you join and stick 2D shapes in different ways with glue and sellotape to make a house picture for one of the three little pigs?
Read the story of the Gingerbread Man. Can you talk about the list of ingredients and the instructions that you follow when baking? Can you weigh out the ingredients in your baking? Can you use tools for baking gingerbread men?

Evidence Me

We will be using the Blog and Evidence Me to support your child’s learning over the next few weeks.

If school does close or you are self isolating please send us updates of your child’s learning using Evidence Me.

All parents/carers in Foundation Stage should have received an email from [email protected] to transfer from 2 build a profile to Evidence Me. If you haven’t done so already, please activate.

Teachers in F1 and F2 will Blog daily activities for your child to complete should school need to close. Once completed, observations can then be shared with us via Evidence Me.

We will be sending home packs to help your child in their learning and we will also send a new home learning menu.

Thank you for your support
