Today we are acting our pirate, mermaid and sea creature stories. The children have extended their learning by creating a pirate boat and pirate/mermaid masks. We are having lots of fun pretending to sail away to a desert island.
Mr Meade and Mrs Price took five Y1 and five reception children to learn a bit about Armthorpeās mining history! Our children have also planted a time capsule of their beautiful expedition work, which will be re-opened in 5 years time! This was a beautiful experience which links very closely to both EYFS and KS1ās current expeditions.
Thank you grown ups for your cooperation as always! #LovePlover
Well done to our F2 yellow tshirt winners this week, Lita and Avaarni.
Lita has been trying so so hard with her learning this week and has shown great perseverance. She is becoming a lot more confident in answering questions in class and trying things for herself.
Avaarni has been extremely kind to her peers and other visitors that we have had in school. She showed compassion to children that visited from Heatherwood School and engaged beautifully with them, asking lots of questions.
In maths today the children each had a role. One person had to spin the spinner and tell their partner the double they needed to make. The other person had to make the double and say the equation. they then swapped over. Lots of children were able to say doubles and could check if their answers were correct.
As part of our third case study we are learning about characters in stories related to the sea. We had a wonderful time pretending to be pirates today.
The children used a range of equipment to create hats, eye patches, maps, telescopes and a boat.
Well done to Ivanna and Ines who have extended their own learning during provision today and created some beautiful pictures of the ocean being polluted by rubbish. They took great care in adding detail to their sea creatures.
Mason has done some amazing writing this week using his phonics knowledge! He also made a pledge to get 4s in his HOWLs which he most definitely has achieved. Well done keep it up.
