Y5 RSPCA visit
As part of our first week back and developing our new crews, some of our Y5 pupils had the opportunity to visit the RSPCA. They were able to meet some of the dogs who are waiting to find their forever home. Y5 are working on a very exciting project with the RSPCA so watch this space- more details to follow shortly!

‘How can our crew be strengthened by acts of service to others?’ – learning about caring for dogs and adoption appeals.
Following our call with the Doncaster branch of the RSPCA, we today worked to support them by sketching the dogs they have for adoption and beginning to type some pieces of persuasive writing, hoping to encourage potential homes for their pets. This required us to recall the features of persuasive writing, as well as develop our computing skills in word processing.
To aid with providing good information in our writing, we also had a visit from Mrs Ogle’s dog where we asked questions about what it takes to be a responsible owner.
I can’t wait to see your finished pieces, they’re looking great already!
How can we get everybody to the top of the mountain? Our expert visitors shared their advice!
Year 5 and 6 had a special visit from Tommy and Pebbles today, who gave them suggestions on how to get to the top of the mountain and be successful in their final year of primary school.
This was followed by feedback from Year 5 children who fed back to us about their trip to the RSPCA and what we can do to help and support them.
P.E. Thursdays
Please be advised that Year 5 will have their P.E. sessions on a Thursday – their teachers have reminded them today.
Our expert on resilience and compassion- Ben Parkinson
Today, Year 5&6 were lucky enough to meet Ben Parkinson- a true local hero who has shown so much resilience in his life. As part of first week back, we have been looking at our guiding question āhow can we get everyone to the top of the mountain?ā Ben shared with the children about his injuries and how his friends/crew got him through such a hard time and actually saved his life. He also talked about the time he served in the army and all his amazing achievements and how they wouldnāt have been possible without his peers. He also shared how his injuries have only made him more resilient and how he now he raises lots of money for charity. We felt so inspired after the visit!
We also introduced the āBen Parkinson awardā which will be announced at the end of the year and awarded to someone who has shown great resilience all year.
Thank you Ben- you hero!

Year 5 and 6 building crew
To build on our crew character traits, we undertook some team building and problem solving activities this afternoon as we got to know our phase crews better. Well done for working hard to solve the various tasks and challenges! We have more in store tomorrow!

Faith day in 4B
Today, the children have worked hard to learn about two new religions (Hinduism and Buddhism) and their Holy books (the four Vedas and the Tripitaka). It was great to see their enthusiasm and respect for learning about different religions. Well done 4B!
