Year 4 PE

The new term meant a new PE scheme; they have started on dance. Today the children had learnt about what the Haka dance was all about. We discussed the use of emotion and expression, levels, and movements that were involved in the dance, before incorporating stance, facial expression, voice and moving towards positions into their own dance with a partner. Year 4 had so much fun with this lesson!

ā€˜Motivate Me’ Crew Challenges

In our crews, we have had to think really carefully about how we can achieve a team aim. It was much harder than we first thought it would be to lower the counting stick to the ground without anyone’s fingers becoming detached from the stick. It was amazing how much better we did when we actually communicated with each other!

Dance in Y4!

The children are focusing on Dance this half term and have had such a great time practicing the Haka. They learned a bit about its history and where it originated from. Then they put on their most intimidating faces to learn the first few steps.

Danum Read Aloud Competition

Today in crew we have launched the Danum Read Aloud competition to our children in KS2 (Year 3,4,5 and 6).

The theme this year is book openings. Children can select their favourite from the selection of extract to perform for their crew. Winners will then go into the KS2 semi-final and winners from that will progress into the school final, held on Thursday 7th March – World Book Day.

One overall winner from our school final will be entered into the Doncaster final held at the Danum Museum and Art Gallery on 27th March.

Motivate me Crew 💙

For Mondays motivate me crew session we worked in mini crew to balance a metre ruler stick. During debrief, we discussed what skills made a successful team: participation of all; teamwork; good listening; good pace; balancing skills and communication. Well done crews for demonstrating how to work well as a team.

4H have worked in small production teams to research the geographical and human features of Svalbard – an archipelago of islands at the heart of our current expedition. They will use this information to write a comparison between Svalbard and South Yorkshire.

I am taking over my teacher’s job!

I think I need to watch my back! The confidence growth in this young man has been phenomenal over the last few weeks…To stand in front of 30 children and explain your thinking out loud is really tricky but you handled it like a pro, Roscoe! Both myself and Mrs Pass are incredibly proud of you; and we hope you are also proud of yourself!
