Maths āž—

For maths this week, we have been working on decimals. The children have been using manipulatives to explore different ways to divide a one and two digit number by 10 and 100. Great work guys!

We are getting quicker!

4H have been practising how to find words in a dictionary. It has certainly been interesting and the children have really had to grapple with the process of how to do this. As we made great strides of improvement yesterday, I began racing the children to see who could find the stated word the quickest. Methmi and Poppy were not happy that they were only a couple of seconds slower than I was! Maybe next week they will beat meā€¦

We are writers!

We have had great fun this week writing our own descriptions of different rooms within Mr Wonkaā€™s chocolate factory! Ideas were bubbling and expanded noun phrases were brewing then the creativity was really let loose!

I look forward to marking your final drafts.

We are Getting Smart

Using the dictionaries and thesauruses that Mrs Graves has recently bought for school, we have been able to find synonyms and antonyms without having to ask for help! We feel so proud of ourselves and will get quicker at finding the words the more that we practise.

Thank you Mrs Graves, we love these!

4B hook week

4B had an amazing hook week. First, we started the week off by dressing up as characters from Charlie and the chocolate factory. Big shout out to Lenna and Kai for bringing in some delicious treats to munch on while we watched the original film. During the week, we also did some chocolate tasting and chocolate wrapper critiquing. We then designed our own individual chocolate wrappers, one of which will be used for our final product. I wonder whose will be chosen?

Since hook week, the children have been working super hard to produce some amazing, descriptive writing inspired by the story of Charlie and the chocolate factory.

Next week, we will be officially starting our fist history cast study; Who worshipped chocolate? I Can’t wait to see what amazing learning you will produce.

Year 4 PE

Year 4 has been practicing their bowling skills again by throwing the ball to their teams, before they started practicing using their bats. In the last 20 minutes of the PE session, year 4 got into groups where there was a bowler, a batter, a wicket keeper and 2 fielders and they played a mini games of cricket. They were fantastic in their practice!

LKS2 Parents Meeting – Times Tables Check

Year 3 and 4 parents are invited to a talk about the National Times Table Check (MTC), set by the government for all pupils in Year 4.

We will explain what the MTC is and how you can support your children in the run up to the check in June.

In the meantime, all Year 4 children are invited to Times Tables Breakfast Booster Sessions on Tuesday Morning, 8:20am.

With thanks
