Fantastic Phonics!

A huge shout out to the children in my my phonics group, they have worked really hard to improve their spelling and reading skills. Lots of children have said Phonics is their favourite time of the day and they are all working hard to earn a postcard.

Keep it up guys!

Year 2 R.E

2P really enjoyed learning about Christian parables today. We looked at the story of ‘The Good Samaritan ‘ and what the deeper message is behind its story. They then ordered the story into the correct sequence. Well done Year 2!

Vlad and the Great Fire of London

Today we inferred about our first core text, Vlad and the Great Fire of London by piecing together the front cover and using it to search for clues about the story. We then used the pictures from the text to infer how Vlad how might be feeling.

London’s Burning!

To help bring our hook week to a close, we have set fire to our model of Pudding Lane. We had to try and put out the fire and dig in a fire break before the fire reached the King’s house. We had great fun watching it burn, whilst singing ‘London’s Burning’. Thank you to Mr Meade for being Fire Fighter in Chief!

Superb Poetry

We have learnt a wonderful poem called ‘If I was a Superhero’ by Sally Gray. We created superhero poses in front of our large artwork and then performed our poem to create a beautiful piece of work. We hope you enjoy!

Hook Week

We have had a very busy hook week making and doing crafts to start off our learning. There have been giant pieces of artwork, superhero pictures using different art media, new skills, expert visitors, a hero dressing up day, superhero training, poetry, a hero disco and, of course, fire! It has been exceptionally busy but tremendous fun! Check out some of our pictures from the week:

If I was a Superhero!

In Hook Week, 2L have been learning and performing the poem ‘If I were a Superhero’ by Sally Gray. I’m sure you’ll agree, they did brilliantly!

What would your superpower be?

Hook Week

This week we have been busy hooking into our first expedition, Not all heroes wear capes: How can I be a hero in my community? We have enjoyed building Tudor style houses for our very own Pudding Lane, painting flames and houses for our large scale artwork and collaging our own superhero masks. We can’t wait for the Hero dress up day tomorrow!

Fire & Rescue Expert in KS1

We had a real life hero join KS1 today and he shared some really important information and brilliant stories of what skills fire fighters need to help our communities! The children sat wonderfully and asked so fantastic questions to help with our expedition starting next week. #LovePlover

R.E in Year 2

Year 2 did so well this afternoon when taking part in a gallery walk! The children were looking at different visual representations of Jesus and we had such a good discussion about how people pictured him to look and why. They had such good ideas and opinions. Keep it up!
