A sneak peek behind the scenes in KS1 this afternoon. We have been movie stars this afternoon, filming videos in front of a green screen with Geoff! This will be for our final product and we are so excited to share it with you. A big thank you to Geoff for filming and Plover’s own experts Joe, Zuzanna and Rahoz for being the best directors EVER!
We are artists
This week we have been awesome artists. We have focused on our monochromatic skills. First we developed our pencil skills to make dots, lines, shapes, patterns and decorative designs. Then we practised different shading techniques such as hatching, cross hatching, stippling and blending. Finally, we put all our skills together to sketch our line drawings of the Deaf School. Using Austinās Butterly critique we were able to refine and improve our art. We have created some beautiful work! #LovePlover
Text Coding!
In our English lesson yesterday, we explored our model text more deeply. We talked about common features you would expect to find in a Recount. First we talked about what a Recount is, why we write them and who we are writing them for. We then searched for evidence of past tense verbs, writing in the first person (pronouns) and using time adverbials. We swapped colours for every feature to show the difference. Finally we looked for evidence of opinions.
Active Travel Rap
Last Thursday, we created a rap with actions to promote Active Travel. We enjoyed some physical activity with KS2 on the trim trail and playing basketball to end #NationalSportsWeek #LovePlover
KS1 Pride of Plover Winners!
Well done to this weeks Pride of Plover Winners in Year 1 and 2! Keep being absolutely amazing! We are all very proud of you!
TromsĆø and Intake D&T Box Models
We were design technologists last week and compared our local community of Intake, Doncaster to TromsĆø in Norway. The children crafted together physical features like fjords, valleys, mountains, waterfalls to represent TromsĆø. Then human features such as roads, roundabouts, shops, flats and Plover Primary school that we have in Intake. #LovePlover
Sports Day Practise
Y1 have continued their @YouthSportTrust #NationalSportsWeek activities by practising different sports day races! We also discussed the wildlife we saw on the way to school as part of @SouthYorksMCA #WalkandWheelSY #LovePlover
1C Recount A Trip… Through Drama!
Yesterday, 1C recounted their trip to The Deaf School using actions and signs! This helped us remember what we did in chronological order, in order to help us prepare to write up our own recounts of the day!
