Pride Of Plover

Well done to Elaf who got our yellow T-shirt this week. It’s lovely to see how much your confidence has developed and how you are now joining in with phonics, saying your sounds clearly daily.

EYFS- Celebration of learning- 15th March!

We are so excited to invite all of our parents and carers to our celebration of learning on the 15th March at 2pm. Our children have been working so hard this term as part of our Expedition ‘once upon a time, who is hiding in the pages of the book’. The children have been raising money to gift to the children’s hospital, Kiddiwinks and other local groups. We hope to see you there!

We Are Storytellers

Over the past two days we have been working hard to re-tell the story of the Gingerbread Man, using masks. The children have become very good at remembering key phrases and leading their own learning to re-tell the story during provision.

A big thank you

Thank you to all those who have supported our fundraising this term. We have raised just over £700. We are going to buy books to create book baskets for places in the community, books for the children’s wards in the hospital and Kiddiewinks. We are also going to add to our reading for pleasure books that the children take home and all our EYFS children will have their own book.

If you know of a venue in the local area that would like a basket of books for children to read/share at the venue please let us know.

We Are Scientists

Today we tasted our gingerbread men that we baked yesterday. We spoke about how the state of the gingerbread changed from; being ingredients, to crumb like, to a dough, to going hard in the oven. We used our senses to explore how the cooked gingerbread felt, looked, smelt and tasted. We went on to make predications about what would happen if we was to put our gingerbread man in water. We got some excellent answers such as; go soft and change colour. We then used our senses again to explore the wet gingerbread man, and see if our predications were correct.

Summer Expedition

After the Easter holidays our expedition will be based around the guiding question “what happens when the sea meets the shore?” As part of this we will be talking about children’s experiences of visiting the seaside. If you are out and about anywhere over the Easter holidays, or have any old holiday photos of your child, we would appreciate it if you could share these with your class teacher. These can be shared via Evidence Me or a printed copy, so that they can use these to support their learning.

Thank you, EYFS team

Expert Baker

Yesterday we had nana Bubb and grandma Sherene in as expert bakers, to show us how to bake gingerbread. They taught us lots of clever baking tips and explained the process of measuring the ingredients to us and we discussed how the ingredients changed state. We practised kneading the dough ready for making our own.

After watching nana Bubb and grandma Sherene we had a go at baking our own gingerbread men, following a recipe. We spoke about the measurements we needed and the importance of washing our hands first. We practised using our mathematical language, such as first and then, and used our senses to feel/smell/touch the ingredients.

The Plover Palace Ball

Glitter, a red carpet, a castle, dancing and lots of fun! We really did have fun this afternoon for our family learning. We welcomed our families to the Plover Palace Ball. Thank you to all those who supported either by attending or by sending their children in some amazing clothes. It was great to see some adults dressed up too.

Here are some photos of the afternoon celebrations.

Pride Of Plover

Well done to Maria who got our yellow t-shirt this week. Maria is one of our early starters and has settled amazingly into nursery life. She follows routines and is very good at signing in crew. She also did fantastic re-telling of the Goldilocks story.

World Book Day 2024

We are looking forward to celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 7th March.

It would be lovely to see the children dressed up as their favourite book character, but please don’t feel like you have to rush out and buy a costume!

£1 Book Vouchers will be given to children on the day which can be spent in most supermarkets and book shops, but we do also have a Book Fayre coming into school the following week, and children can put their voucher towards the cost of a book at that event – more details to follow soon.

More information can be found on https://www.worldbookday.com
