I am so proud of my phonics group. They really focussed on handwriting today and some of them have started to read words.

Well done Amelia on being chosen as our Pride of Plover today. You have shown so much kindness to your friends and you are always caring for them and helping them. You are a superstar.

This week we have been learning an alternative version of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. This has helped us to answer our case study question “How can the goats and the troll be friends?” The children acted out the story and made the goat’s feet quieter using socks and boots.

Today we used the song 5 speckled frogs to help us say 5 is made of ? and ?. The children used 5 frames, the frogs and fingers to help them.

As part of our work on British Values in crew we have been learning about democracy. This is what the children said democracy meant to them.

Today, we talked about how we need to keep a healthy mind to take care of ourselves. If we take care of our minds and feel happy, we will be even better at being kind. Even if it was tricky, we respected our friends and stayed quiet and calm throughout. The children did so well and all said they felt happy afterwards. At Plover, we work hard, get smart and we are kind!

With the help of the 5 little Speckled Frogs song, we learned more about the composition of the number 5. We then used manipulatives to demonstrate our learning on a part whole model. At the end, we consolidated our learning by using the sentence ‘5 is made up of…and ….’ Ask our children if they know how 5 is made?
This week in F2 we had a visit from Baby T. The children really enjoyed learning about what he can do and seeing his responses to the different toys. They loved the smiles he made when they sang to him. We look forward to his next visit!
The children have been busy being The Three Little Pigs in the builders yard. They have been placing orders for materials, drawing up designs like architects and writing down phone messages. In maths, they’ve been building staircases, using the language of one more, one fewer to notice patterns in number.
Today the children have been pretending to be the troll and the goats in the story of The three billy goats gruff. They have used small world, outdoor construction and drawings and have also been writing speech bubbles.
