Gingerbread Man baking

We had 2 expert bakers to visit us to teach us how to make Gingerbread men. We learnt new words and remembered ingredients and equipment. We then had a go at baking some. We weighed the ingredients, rubbed the butter into the flour, mixed in the other ingredients and made the dough. We rolled and cut and baked. Finally, we ate them. They were delicious!

Summer Expedition

After the Easter holidays our expedition will be based around the guiding question “what happens when the sea meets the shore?” As part of this we will be talking about children’s experiences of visiting the seaside. If you are out and about anywhere over the Easter holidays, or have any old holiday photos of your child, we would appreciate it if you could share these with your class teacher. These can be shared via Evidence Me or a printed copy, so that they can use these to support their learning.

Thank you, EYFS team

Expert Baker

Yesterday we had nana Bubb and grandma Sherene in as expert bakers, to show us how to bake gingerbread. They taught us lots of clever baking tips and explained the process of measuring the ingredients to us and we discussed how the ingredients changed state. We practised kneading the dough ready for making our own.

After watching nana Bubb and grandma Sherene we had a go at baking our own gingerbread men, following a recipe. We spoke about the measurements we needed and the importance of washing our hands first. We practised using our mathematical language, such as first and then, and used our senses to feel/smell/touch the ingredients.

We are Crew!

Crew challenge- build the tallest structure using only your shoes. We had to communicate with eachother, have a go and learn from our mistakes. The boys had a slow start but a big tall finish!

The Plover Palace Ball

Glitter, a red carpet, a castle, dancing and lots of fun! We really did have fun this afternoon for our family learning. We welcomed our families to the Plover Palace Ball. Thank you to all those who supported either by attending or by sending their children in some amazing clothes. It was great to see some adults dressed up too.

Here are some photos of the afternoon celebrations.

Being kind

This morning in crew the children said why their friends were kind. We made a crew web to show that we are a team and we are kind to each other.

We had lots of fun too!

World Book Day 2024

We are looking forward to celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 7th March.

It would be lovely to see the children dressed up as their favourite book character, but please don’t feel like you have to rush out and buy a costume!

Ā£1 Book Vouchers will be given to children on the day which can be spent in most supermarkets and book shops, but we do also have a Book Fayre coming into school the following week, and children can put their voucher towards the cost of a book at that event – more details to follow soon.

More information can be found on https://www.worldbookday.com

A writing day

The children have demonstrated some fantastic writing today. Some of them wrote words and sentences during the morning task and some of them chose to write during provision time.

Bakr was very confident in his morning writing. Ola showed her writing from home. Olivia and Ariana wrote shopping lists. Georgia and Maisie wrote sentences to match their pictures.
