Our product – growing bulbs as a lasting legacy

We planted bulbs as our product to share our learning with our families and our community. Some of our bulbs grew quicker than we thought so we took our bulbs home today.

The children designed their sticks and plant pot covers. There is a QR code linking to the website of our expedition.

Next week we will begin sharing our bulbs with our local community to brighten their day.

Where is the elf?

At outdoor time this morning some of the children were pretending to be magic elves. They thought of names for their elves and what powers they were going to have. They needed hats so this afternoon along with other children, they made elf hats. These were then taken outside to develop the story telling. We had elves who would cuddle, elves who could jump, elves who could make you invisible etc. What kind of elf would you be?

Making a shopping list

So that we can buy the correct quantities of fruit for fruit kebabs we made shopping lists today. The children chose three different fruit for their kebabs. Watermelon was the most popular.

Emorie wrote an extra list for us.

Reading and Homework in Year 1 and 2

This week the percentage of children who have recorded their reading at home is quite low.

Week 3This Week
Crew Bubb20%
Crew Carter54%
Crew Meade53%
Crew Jobber40%
Crew Lewis12%
Crew Pickering12%

To ensure the children continue to work hard and get smart, we have started a little competition between the crews.

Each FRIDAY the children will bring home a homework sheet. This will have a space to record their reading on and some maths and spelling homework.

The children will have until the following THURSDAY to complete the homework and return to their crew leader.

This will replace the reading logs.

The children that complete their home learning, will earn points towards a treat at the end of the term. But they can only earn points if they return their homework! Children will be able to complete this at school as well if needed, during a lunchtime club.

We understand that it is a whole family effort, so we will also be running a raffle for a parent prize. Each time a homework sheet is returned we will enter into a small prize draw.

We are electricians!

3H had an incredible week last week with lots of exciting learning taking place. We have been scientists and have officially become expert electricians! Everyone can use the electricity kits to create a simple circuit which lights up a bulb.
