Rama and Sita

Using the learning from yesterday from Divali we would like children to retell the story of Rama and Sita. By the end of this learning we would like children to be able to say what happened in the story and who the characters were. Some children might be able to record the story.

Watch the link to CBeebies and then go through the story on the slides.
Can you recreate the story? You could make puppets, draw pictures, act it out.

In maths we will use language such as longer and shorter to compare the length of everyday objects.
Watch the lesson video. Can you find objects and compare their lengths? Can you use dough, string or other objects to complete the task?

More Festivals

You have been learning about how we are all the same but different and thinking about some of the things you celebrate with your family. Today you have been learning about Diwali. Families all love celebrating festivals but celebrate different festivals.

Watch the video below to find out what different families might celebrate.

Writing Caterpillar letters

Today, in phonics, you have been recapping g, o, c, k. Three of these letters are caterpillar letters. They all begin with the C shape. Watch the handwriting heroes and practice forming your caterpillar letters correctly. Remember always start at 2 o’clock and go anticlockwise.

Phonics for Thursday 22nd

In today’s phonics session we will be recapping the letters and sounds g, o, c, k. Please either follow the attached link or go to www.lettersandsounds.org.uk/for_home/reception and select lesson 15.

Three of today’s graphemes are caterpillar letters. They start with the C shape. Can you spot the odd one out?

You could follow up the session by practicing forming the letters correctly, playing I spy with these sounds or reading simple words with these graphemes in.
Don’t forget to send any photos in if you do any follow-up practice with these letters and sounds.

Divali celebrations

Continuing our learning on celebrations we are going to learn about Divali (also spelt Diwali). By the end of the session we expect children to know that Divali is a celebration and how it is celebrated.
Go through the slides on the powerpoint and see what you can find out.

Can you make rangoli patterns?
Can you clean and tidy?
Can you make a pot to hold a candle?
Can you make a firework picture?

For maths in this lesson we will use language such as heavier and lighter to compare the weight of everyday objects.
Watch the video.
You might not have all the ingredients to make a cake but can you compare the weight of objects? Use the words heavier, lighter, heavy, light and balance.
Send us photos of what you make or what you measure.

We look forward to seeing your learning.

Missing you already F2S!

It has been a great day for learning today. I’m pleased to see lots of you have accessed the learning on Evidence Me today and it was lovely to see a few of you on our class google hangout. I hope to see a few more tomorrow.

I have particularly enjoyed sharing all the things you celebrate with your families. Keep those pictures coming!

The same but different

We have been learning about ourselves and our families as part of our community. Follow the link or copy and paste it to watch a short video about the human race and how we are the same but different. I wonder if you can draw a picture of your family. Are you all the same or are there some differences? Maybe your grown up can write down what you say.
We’d love to see your pictures and thoughts so do share on Evidence Me.
