Tudor dress up day reminder for Year 5&6 pupils- Tuesday 6th January

A polite reminder about our upcoming dress up day which is on Tuesday 6th January. We are asking pupils to dress as someone/ in something resembling Tudor times. This was sent out as a letter in November and added to our parent overview before Christmas.

Please do not feel you have to buy a costume, there are lots of examples online. Your child may want to come dressed in dark colours with faceprint resembling coal/dirt to come as a poor person in Tudor times. They could also dress as maids/servants. Some children have drawn a Tudor rose over the holidays and are sticking this to a plain t-shirt.

We are really looking forward to this upcoming expedition and can’t wait for all the engaging lessons we have planned. Any questions, please do contact me- [email protected]

It’s school shop time!

Our Year 6’s have loved spending time at the school shop this morning. We have had lots of 3 and 4 children which means they have been working hard, getting smart and being kind. Year 6 have earned lots of crew coins this term and I am so proud. Our class pledge is that ALL children will be 4’s! We can do this! 🥰

Potting up our cuttings

You may recall, a little while ago, Years 5 and 6 took cuttings from a houseplant while investigating asexual plant reproduction during our science case study.

Now the cuttings had successfully rooted, it was time to pot them into their own compost so they can get enough nutrients to grow into beautiful plants to decorate our classrooms.

Thank you to the children who helped to do this. We will keep them well fed and watered and observe their growth as the year passes.

Our visitor from Australia 🇦🇺

Our student ambassadors had the pleasure of showing our lovely visitor from Australia -Sally- around our school today. Sally works across 14 schools in Australia and the girls loved hearing about how they have started to engage in crew and expeditions just like we do. They cannot wait to contact Sally in the new year to learn more about her schools.

Our Y6 revision winner!

Well done to our lovely Lena who has completed home learning every day this term all linked to her SATs. She has been working on her areas of development with her brother and demonstrated many times how to lead her own learning. So proud of you Lena, enjoy your Christmas treats!

Leaving a lasting legacy in Year 5&6

Some of our final products, the beautiful bird boxes, have now gone to their new homes in Sandal Beat Wood. We are so excited to see them up and the birds accessing them. We know some of our Year 5/6 crew are planning to go and visit them very soon!
