Superstar Cricketers

A huge well done to our year 5 and 6 cricketers who showed amazing development of their cricket skills today, placing third in the Doncaster tournament. It was great to see you taking onboard the feedback and your fielding in particular improved massively as the day progressed.

Shout out to Rahand, whose twelve runs helped cement our third place success against some really tough competition!

Activism in Year 5

A massive well done to year 5 who joined the council and police neighbourhood teams yesterday to complete a very thorough litter pick in our local neighbourhood. It was wonderful to see you all working so hard to make Intake a better place!

Pride of Plover

Well done to the year 5 and 6 Pride of Plover this week – you’re working hard, getting smart and being kind so thoroughly deserve this amazing recognition.

Well done also to those in receipt of times tables rockstars and reading plus awards this week, keep being awesome!

Working in a coal mine

Today, 5S were shocked to learn that Victorian children as young as four had no choice but to work up to 12 hours a day, 6 days a week in mines to earn money and support their families.

In order to consider the hard work and suffering they experienced, we discussed the different jobs available to people in the mines and the gruelling work they had to undertake. We role played these jobs in groups then got back together to write about how we felt.

We all came away feeling really sorry for our ancestors who had to work this hard at such a young age. I want to praise the class for their sympathy and engagement with this lesson as it was tough to hear about.
