🐝Spring Spelling Bee

We’re excited to announce our Spring Spelling Bee, the second spelling bee of the year! It’s a fantastic opportunity for children to build confidence, practise key spelling skills, and celebrate their hard work in a fun and supportive way.

Children have until the week after half term (Monday 23rd February) to practise the weekly spellings in preparation for the event. Regular practice little and often will really help, and we encourage families to support children at home where possible.

 Please remember:
A new set of spellings will be shared each week, so be sure to check the blog weekly to stay up to date and make sure no spellings are missed.

We’re really looking forward to seeing how much progress the children make and to celebrating their efforts in the Spring Spelling Bee. Good luck to everyone taking part! 🌟

Showing courage when peer critiquing writing 💙

6B demonstrated courage last week as they critiqued one another’s work. They created their own success criteria based on models of age related and greater depth writing. They supported one another’s in ensuring their work was the best it could be.
I really enjoyed reading their critiqued versions.

Well done superstars! 💙

London 2026

We will be hosting a London meeting next half term (March- date TBC). We appreciate some people may have changed their minds and no longer want their place. If this is the case, please let me know ASAP as we have a large waiting list.

Thank you for your continued support.

Community Crew Games

What a great first community crew we had, competing against each other for crew coins! Some children showed great courage by coming out of their comfort zone and taking part in the games.

Investigating states of matter

As part of our immersion into our new expedition, Years 5 and 6 spent a day investigating changes in states of matter, understanding how solid substances such as salt and sugar can dissolve in water (becoming liquid), then the water evaporates to reverse the change of state, leaving solid crystals of salt or sugar.

We also understood how sand didn’t dissolve in water, but remained solid, sinking to the bottom of the liquid. We were able to retrieve the sand by using a filter.

We discussed how, in the past, science was unable to explain these changes of state and may have led to claims of witchery.

We are crew!

We are kick starting our new term with team building in crew. We are focusing on the character trait respect this term. The children had to work in teams to build the biggest tower. They had to listen to one another’s ideas, whilst showing respect to try and build the biggest tower with their shoes!

Super scientists!

6B kick started their first case study today and became scientists. They predicted if solids would dissolve in liquids and if the temperature would impact the final results. They further developed their prior knowledge of states of matter. We are looking forward to even more science experiments tomorrow!
