We have had a lovely half term term. Mostly it has just been four children and two or three staff to work with them. The Key Stage 2 children have been enjoying their topic “Natural Disasters”. We have watched fascinating video clips about volcanoes, tsunamis and floods. We have made salt dough volcanoes and erupted these using bicarbonate of soda and vinegar. We have also made edible volcanoes from chocolate crispy cake mixture and coloured icing. They were fun.
We have done some art work on The Great Wave and we enjoyed our colour mixing to make different shades of blue and green for the ocean. We also enjoyed colour mixing when we painted volcanoes for our wall display.
We have enjoyed a range of baking and making activities. We particularly liked making slime. It was good fun stretching it! Have a look at the photos -that was a fun afternoon!
We have continued to work hard in our speech therapy sessions and we are getting familiar with meeting Mrs Allardyce, our Deaf Instructor, on ‘Google Hangout’ too. The snow has added to our enjoyment of playing outside and we have managed to do some art work in the snow using powder paints, as well as make snow angels and build a snowman!
