Critiquing our writing.

This week we have been writing letters to send to David Attenborough about the work we have been completing in our mini expedition. We have spent today’s lesson critiquing each others work, in preparation to write in our best handwriting tomorrow.

Voices of Angels!

We have spent the afternoon working on our innovation of the famous Louis Armstrong song, ‘What a wonderful world!’ We have some very talented singers in 4G and I can’t wait to share the final version with you.

Fearful fractions

This week Year 4 have been looking at fractions and today we have learnt how to convert mixed numbers to improper fractions. The children worked collaboratively to match the fractions together to a picture and then convert this to a mixed number.

One Year On – 4G reflect on the last year through Art.

As part of P Block today, 4G have been considering the impact of the Coronavirus, one year to the day when we went into lockdown for the first time.

Working with Mrs Foster, the children we able to express their personal thoughts about the last year though their own artistic interpretations.

The children were encouraged to consider not only the negative impact but also some of the positive outcomes as a result of Covid-19.

See if you can spot Pranav’s drawing of our class doing online learning!

Well done 4G

Accelerated Reader League

Well done to Crew Blackham for passing the most quizzes for the 2nd week running. A shout out goes to Crew Chapman for coming a very close second. However, I’m most impressed with Crew Topliss this week – they must have been reading lots and quizzing because they have managed to get into third place.

Awesome reading KS2! Keep going and remember every time you pass a quiz about the book you’ve just read, you will be in with a chance of winning a box of Dunkin Doughnuts. Remember, you have to read to win it!

Save our Planet

Today in English we had a fantastic discussion about how the Covid-19 epidemic , and particularly the lockdown, has had a positive impact on the environment by lowering air pollution.

This led on to great collaborative work to produce a poster encouraging people to ‘Save our Planet’. We were so engrossed with our work, that we didn’t want to stop – James and Mathew even asked to carry on working through playtime – shout out to you boys!

We critiqued each other’s worked to make improvements and then we presented our posters to the class. Well done Sumika for going out of your comfort zone by talking in front of everyone.

I felt very proud of the focus and dedication and the enthusiasm for the topic. Well done guys!

Today, we have created posters on how we could save the environment. We came up with lots of fantastic ideas and worked really well together to create posters to present to our friends.

Well done 4L!
