Column Addition

Today 3LS have been introduced to a new method of addition, column addition. For many children, this was the first time they had met this method and they have amazed me.

Children have used manipulatives and grappled with this new strategy. Their presentation in their books has been beautiful too.

I wonder who can demonstrate this new addition method at home. Maybe you could use big, medium and small Lego bricks, different pasta shapes or different sized pebbles or beads to represent your hundreds, tens and ones. Remember always work from right to left.

Class Hamper

Dear parents, carers and friends,

This Christmas, every class is  going to create coloured hampers that will be raffled off before Christmas.

Our class colour is blue so it would be great if everyone could bring in something blue to go into our class hamper.

You can bring in  anything from a chocolate bar to a pair of socks the more creative the better!

Please could you begin fetching your hamper items from Monday 29th November

Thank you very much in advance,

Mrs Graves

Anti-bullying Week

This week is anti-bullying week so we have had a big focus on being kind. Everyone has worked extra hard to think about how they treat eachother and I have to say I’ve been impressed. Today Ara and Jasmine have really stood out. They have been coaching their friends and sharing positive critiques.

Well done!

Postcard for perseverance

All of our children have been working so hard this week and making me proud. Tommy has really stood out for his perseverance and for challenging himself in maths. It’s been great to see him becoming so positive and confident. Keep it up Tommy!

Crew Graves – Awesome Accelerated Readers

i am feeling very proud of my crew today as we set our targets on ‘Time to Read Tuesday’. Nearly the whole crew have achieved their targets  they set last week (or come very close) and the level of achievement in Accelerated Reader is amazing.

I am so pleased how they have become so independent and how they want to do well in their reading.

Keep it up guys and keep filling those sunflowers!

4BW postcard winners

Super well done to Frank today for being a role model to other children and working hard all day! Also to Eshal, Sienna and Isabella for being incredibly kind by welcoming a new member to our class today. The girls looked after her all day and made sure she knew where to go. They really made sure she was given a warm welcome on her first day- proper Crew!
